Stakers Begin Shaping the Network
The Syndicate Network is designed around a simple but powerful idea: the people who stake, build, and use the network should be the ones who benefit from it. Achieving that vision requires an economic system where communities influence how value circulates and which appchains rise.
Epoch 2 is where this system becomes real. Stakers can now direct emissions by choosing which appchains they want to support. These decisions determine where emissions go, how quickly appchain communities grow, and how stakers earn from the Performance Pool. Staking is no longer passive. It becomes a coordinated, incentive-driven process that rewards usage, participation, and real economic contribution.
What’s New in Epoch 2
Epoch 2 (November 30 to December 30) introduces the complete staking and incentive design described in the Syndicate Network Litepaper. Emissions remain at 1,666,666.67 SYND for the epoch, following the network’s equal-emission schedule.
Directed staking is now liveStakers can direct their SYND toward Commons, Clankermon, Cmmt, or Stadium, with additional appchains expected to onboard in future epochs. These allocations can be adjusted before each epoch begins and will automatically roll over unless changed.
All three emission pools are now active.Epoch 2 is the first epoch in which emissions flow through the full incentive model:
- Base Pool (30%) provides baseline emissions to all stakers, proportional to stake amount and duration.
- Performance Pool (30%) mirrors emissions earned by the appchains a staker supports. Stakers benefit directly when the appchains they back attract stake or generate activity.
- Appchain Pool (40%) distributes emissions to appchains based on the stake directed toward them and the SYND fees they pay to the Syndicate Network. There is no guaranteed minimum; appchains earn only when they attract participation and generate usage.
Together, these pools create a feedback loop in which appchains compete for stake and activity, and stakers benefit from backing high-performing appchains.
Staking decisions are locked for the epochOnce Epoch 2 begins, all stake amounts and appchain allocations remain locked until the epoch ends at 23:00 UTC on December 30. Unstaking remains available, but the actual withdrawal occurs at the epoch flip.
How Staking Works in Epoch 2
To participate, SYND holders first bridge tokens to Commons Chain, the Syndicate Network’s flagship appchain and community hub. Commons Chain uses SYND as its native gas token, settles on Base, and is purpose-built to support staking and emissions operations at low cost and high speed.
Once SYND is bridged, users stake through the Commons Chain staking contract. They then select one or more appchains to support before the epoch begins. These selections determine how their emissions are calculated and also influence which appchains receive emissions from the Appchain Pool. Directed staking automatically carries forward to future epochs unless changed.
When an unstake is initiated, tokens remain staked through the end of the current epoch. They unlock at the epoch flip, at which point both principal and earned emissions become available. Rewards never expire and can be claimed on Commons Chain at any time.
